What would make your life a little better?
I didn’t get much — OK, any — response on my last post on the store. But I haven’t given up hope! Perhaps I can still stir up some conversation.
With that in mind, here’s a question: What one thing could our community offer that would make your life better?
I’ve got two reasons for asking this: One is that I don’t think we, as “pull yourself up by your bootstraps” Midwesterners, mention our needs all that often, and we might just find that someone might be able to solve our problem in a way that also solves a problem of his or her own. Another reason is that, if we realize that we all have a similar problem that we’d like to have solved, we realize that we have a market for a solution to that problem. That makes the solution that much more feasible, and that much more likely to happen.
(If you’ve all done something like this as part of your early Horizons training, please forgive me for coming late to the party, and humor me by answering the question again!)

It’s up to me to start!
I would love to have a place to go to take my daughter (and someday, I’m sure, my son, too) to play, and to hang out with other moms in the area.
Here’s what would be perfect: A public place that was child-proofed, with play equipment for the kids and comfy chairs for the moms. If we were in a bigger town, it would be a coffee shop, where you could buy a fancy coffee. Just a self-serve coffee maker would work, too.
This space could work as a place where women could have book club meetings, or just hang out for a while. We could work together to do any of the cleanup or maintenance that’s necessary, and we’d have to clean up after ourselves, but since it was a public space that would still feel like an escape from the long list of duties we have at home.
We could let men come, too (maybe. sometimes.), but I think women would appreciate this space more.
There’s my daydream! Anyone else?

This is a great question, and an excellent way to use the blog!!! I hope people will start responding…………..
Our new Horizons communities will be taking blog training next week, so I hope they will get ideas from those of you putting thought into your posts.
Maybe the new year would be a good time to remind people - through the Frederick web site or school/church newsletters - to check out the blog and post comments.
Happy New Year!
